Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In October 2016 Ari Lennox debuted her debut EP Pho. It was here that she gained recognition. Her first studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has been uploading her music since 2012, with the debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014, she continued to share her music over the internet, including her self release single Bound. The track Sweat it is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21, 2015. J. Cole had her submit her tracks to the Dreamville Team later in the year, as he wanted Rihanna to work alongside her on some of the songs. The 8th of December was the day she confirmed that she had been signed to Dreamville Records. She made an appearance on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. The singer released Pho, her debut album on Oct 21 in 2016. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change, and she performed in the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening artist. She also appeared in two songs with the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on the 5th of September. Then on the 9th of November 2018 the singer released two more singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Then, in November 2013, she dropped No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang with Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. The track was released as a stand-alone single in February 2019 to coincide with her debut album. On February 20, 2019, a music video was released to promote the song. It already has more than three million views on YouTube in its debut week. In December 2018, she performed as performing as a support act on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
